Overseas direct pitch
Explanation&Learning Korean
This is a playful wordplay joke. In Korean, “해외직구” (hae-oe jik-gu) literally translates to “overseas direct pitch”. It’s a pun that plays on the double meaning of “직구” (jik-gu) which can mean both a ‘straight pitch’ in baseball and ‘direct purchase from overseas’. So, the joke humorously implies that the pitcher in the Major League, which is overseas from Korea, is making an ‘overseas direct pitch’.
